Northwest Eye Center is now closed.

Thanks to Dr. Andrew Fisher, Executive Director of the Lavelle Fund for the Blind, VHI was introduced to the good people at the Allene Reuss Memorial Trust. And thanks to a very generous donation from the Trust, VHI was able to acquire a new AScan, Retinomax (auto-refractor), and keratometer, along with many hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses. All of which are being put to work this week, assisting mightily with VHI’s efforts to restore the gift of sight for hundreds of adults and children in La Entrada, Honduras.

In addition, the operating room at the Manos Amigas clinic in La Entrada, Honduras took on a certain pleasant and shiny (the visual equivalent of “new car smell”) aspect for VHI this week. In use for the first time are two recently acquired ScanOptics surgical microscopes, made possible by the very generous gift from a family foundation established in Stockton, California. These two new pieces of critically important equipment will be invaluable as VHI works to restore sight for thousands of adults and children for many years to come.

To our friends and supporters at the California foundation and the Allene Reuss Memorial Trust VHI offers its sincerest thanks.
