Cosmetic Eye Procedures

Dr. O'Rourke has been performing cosmetic eye procedures since the early 1990's. In addition to her surgical training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, she trained in Los Angeles with Dr. Michael Rabkin, an oculoplastic surgeon, in laser skin procedures, and upper and lower blepharoplasties.

BLEPHAROPLASTY

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is the most common plastic surgery procedure done in the United States . This upper eyelid “tuck” involves removing excess skin and underlying fat from the upper lid resulting in a healthier, younger look, and sometimes an improvement in visual function by broadening the upper field of vision. The incision is made along the upper eyelid natural crease resulting in little or no visible scarring.

Tired of those bags under your eyes? Lower eyelid blepharoplasty removes the unsightly fat pads beneath the eyes, and tightens the overlying skin. The incision for lower lid blepharoplasty is usually made inside the lower lid so there is no outer surface skin incision and therefore no visible scar.

INSURANCE COVERAGE

If excess skin on the upper eyelid hinders visual function or causes other problems in the eye, such as chronic blepharitis, the upper eyelid blepharoplasty may be covered by your insurance. At the Northwest Eye Center, prior to your procedure, we can do a full evaluation on your eyes and send the information to your insurance company to see if they will cover your procedure.

At the Northwest Eye Center we believe in safe, effective cosmetic treatment. These are low risk procedures, but not risk free, and procedures near the eye are best treated by or under the direction of an ophthalmologist who may be more aware of any risks related to the eye.
